Adolphe Sax (Selmer) Tenor Saxophone SN 1262 GREAT PLAYER! HISTORIC COLLECTION

Here's a GREAT Adolphe Sax tenor saxophone. Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, should be well known to everyone here; his name was the first to grace the instruments that would eventually dominate the jazz world. This instrument is from the later part of Sax's workshop when it was operated by Adophe Edouard Sax, his son. They are unique players with an unmistakable sound and a great look into the early history of this instrument we all know and love.

This instrument is in very good condition. It is unlacquered from the factory. Keywork is in excellent condition, especially considering the age, and this horn has  Pads are more modern though without resonators, so it still has that haunting early Sax sound. This horn has just been shop regulated, so it can be a player as well as a historic piece.

Provenance: The Historic Collection. This is from the collection of a well-known researcher and historian of woodwinds who spent a lifetime collecting rare and unique instruments. We are privileged to offer items from this collection for sale.
